Just saw a post about painting blanks. My question is: I cannot find a suitable pink spray paint. I have many calls for a pink rod and need to find a good pink paint. Help! Suggestions please.
Thank you, Rick Capt. Rick Bennett Rod-Man Inc Rod-Man Custom Rods 910-520-7661 Re: Painting a blank PINK

Hey, Mr. Rick. I'm sure someone will chime in about specific paints (search Plasti-Coat and Duplicolor), but I don't really know myself. You may consider tinting some Permagloss with red & white or pink pigment if you can find it. Haven't really experimented with this myself. I'm going to do a rod for my girlfriend and really wanted a pink blank. Not wanting to screw up something this important I decided to go with a teal GUSA blank and just trim it in pink. I may experiment with Permagloss sometime in the near future. After seeing the lady-friendly rod I may have some women interested in pink rods of their own.

You might consider a CTS blank. At the Rod Building Show they had an awesome pink blank that looked just like bubble gum pink. They sold a bunch of them. Re: Painting a blank PINK

There is a Mary K Pink in an auto color. Cadilac. The Plasti-kote or Dublicolor should have it.
Or check out Home depot. They have a think it's painter's choise in a pink in the paint department Re: Painting a blank PINK

If you want bright neon pink, look at the Parma line of paints for RC car bodies. They have a neon pink that I used, and the paint came out great. Hobby stores should have it. Re: Painting a blank PINK

Richard is correct we offer Bubble Gum Pink blanks in the CTS line....it's actually a really nice color, that even a MAN wouldn't be embaressed to be seen with.

Capt. Rick,
You don't specify the type of rod you're making. Paint adds weight. If the blank is black or a colored then a white primer is needed. Otherwise the pink will be dull. So now you're looking at two coats and then I'd suggest a top coat of Permagloss. This amount of weight a problem for beefy blanks; but for a quality light blank I'd go with a CTS or GUSA factory painted blank. I found some very bright flourescent Pink spray paint made by Krylon. My local Ace store happened to have one can on hand and said they normally don't carry it. It can be ordered through Ace. Its used for marking roads for digging. I used the house brand of Flourescent Blue to make a matching set of His and Hers rods. Had to wait put a layer of Krylon Crystal Clear to protect the paint form the top coat of Permagloss. they came out great!!! Good luck, Dave Re: Painting a blank PINK
