I want to build a spinning rod for a German man (my daughter-in-law's father) who fishes primarily for pike and carp. I was able to find out that he uses about 14 lb.test line, and that length doesn't matter to him. I need some suggestions for a moderately-priced blank for that type of fishing and especially (what else) what guide sizes to use. If you want to throw in reel seat and grip advice, that's fine too.
Thanks in advance, Jim Re: Spinning rod specs

Jim - Your German counterpart - He LIVES here in the USA, or over THERE in Germany? ... If he lives in Germany, given your trans-Atlantic shipping costs, what is the longest box or rod section length that you may be looking for, Jim? -Cliff Hall+++, FL-USA . Re: Spinning rod specs

Cliff,
He lives in Germany. I'm looking for a multi-piece rod that I (and he) can fit in a suitcase. Bob, I have no idea. I assume that it's the right size for 14-lb test (medium/large). Thanks to both of you, Jim Re: Spinning rod specs

There are more than a few 4pc 8wt flyrod blanks listed
on the CCS data site that would foot the bill nicely as a spinning rod. You may be able to find a 3pc spinning blank in a catalog. I'll check the batson catalog and see what they have and post if they do. Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Re: Spinning rod specs
