Stubborn tip.....

I have two Penn Mariner boat rods in here to replace the tips on and I have never seen a tip that was so hard to get off!!! Usually I put the rod on my wrapper and heat the tip up a little and they pull right off, but this one wont budge. I am heating to the point i'm getting nervous about ruining the blank.
Anyone have any suggestions???

Thanks in advance,
Noel

Split the tube on 2 sides with a dremel and a cut off wheel...then gently pry it off.

Yes, as Andy said, grind it off. I almost always grind tips off if they are being replaced...

If you don't have a Dremel then you can use a small needel fie and fil;e almost through the tip tube wall. You can then actually gently prise it of. Mask off blank for possible file slip and damage. It takes a while but it can be done.

This is exactly why I use a hot melt glue instead of an epoxy.
