Wondering if anyone knows about antique rods. Got two rods from an co-worker, who said they came with the cabin he bought in 1965 in the Bighorns Mountains. Don't know how old they are beyond that point. One of them is a 8'6'' 3pc flyrod. Brand name Water Riffle. The other is a 6'4'' steelhead rod I think, because it so stiff. The brand name is Golden Cainpol I think. I know its Golden C and a couple other letters. But if anyone knows anything about these that would be great. Don't want to get rid of them or use them. Just for show, will probably build a case to hang on the wall. Would like to know if they are worth anything or if I should get them restored, or if that defaces the value. Will post pictures if needed. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/04/2006 08:00PM by Eric Brockman. Re: antique bamboos

Eric;
The Water Riffle is probably a decent rod, I've heard of them before but I can't remember who made it. The other rod is a Golden Compac, an "Occupation Rod" made in Japan after WWII to sell to homeward bound GI's, not very well made and not worth much. They usually came as a fishing kit, in a box with flies, line and extra sections to make either a fly rod or a shorter casting or spinning rod, sounds like you have the casting rod parts. If you are gong to spend money on having them restored, do the Water Riffle and hang the Compac on the wall as is. john Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
