Trying to narrow down some of my options related to a moderate/fast action fly rod for trout fishing on the tailwaters. Have about decided to go with either the Talon series Highlander or Highlander Light. Looking specifically at the Highlander light (HL8'7" -2) or (H9'0"F-4T3)
Haven't really seen much about Talon anywhere, does anyone here have any experience or advice they can offer on their blanks? Any dealers out there? Tim Re: Talon Highlander series fly rod

Angler's Workshop can answer all you questions, they are a dealer and about a mile from the Talon factory as the crow flies. They make nice blanks. Re: Talon Highlander series fly rod

Talon is this most recent incarnation of the original Loomis Composites, Inc. company, later named LCI Excelon and then Osprey. Talon has been around in some form or fashion since the late 1970's. They produce a wide selection of rod blanks, mostly for rod manufacturers, but do offer quite a selection of models for custom rod builders. Anglers Workshop did carry them at one time. Give them a call and ask about current availability.

Try www.talon-graphite.com if you want. My last Angler's catalog has them in it. A friend ordered a Talon float blank from Angler's not long ago. Re: Talon Highlander series fly rod

I have built and fished both the Highlander and Highlander Light Series and they are both excellent blanks and the people at Talon are excellent to work with. Both blanks are incredibly smooth and accurate. I use the Light series for small creeks and freestone streams as they have a very smooth moderate action, which results in light presentations and excellent tippet protection. The Highlander series are a little stiffer, but certainly not fast. I use it for the type of tailwater fishing I do, which can be anything from midges to small streamers. I just spoke with the folks at Angler's Workshop the other day and I am certain they can still get the blanks. I hope this helps.

Yep, I had the same luck with my search for Talon with Anglers Workshop. But, the website is always a little iffy in my opinion. So, I'll just call them to see if they can help with Talon. I sent the Talon an email and haven't heard from them. Dustin, your experience with the rods and their actions is where I want to go with this, thanks for your feedback.
Tom~ I read through the first couple of pages of your rod building guide last night, what a great way to explain modulus and action. Thanks. Tim Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
