I just came across a box while seaching for grips that I forgot that I even had. I bought these grips along time ago they are original Corkalon foregrips 5" long some with 3/4" holes and 5/8 straight and tapered shapes. I was going to put cork tape on a rod that I am in the process of gathering and getting input on component selection. I have never used these grips because I felt they were to heavy and forgot about even having them. But the rod I am building is going to be tip heavy from what I can see. I am going to be using the corkalon grips to add some weight to the butt section to balance out the rod some. My problem is I have been told that the grips dont stretch that far to fit the diameter of the blank. Is there any thing I can do to make these grips fit there isnt much to reem on these grips for they are pretty thin walled ?
I have been told that dropping the grips in boiling water helps them to stretch but I dont want to ruin them by doing this. Re: Corkalon grip ?

Corkalon is an EVA material so it should stretch the same. I've always heard that it would stretch to about 30% above the hole diameter. Boiling water does soften them up, but I've only had to soften up were a few of the long, thick saltwater foregrips. Everything else I've been lucky enough to be able to get close to what I wanted. The corkalon grips were extremely firm and as such don't stretch as far, but will still stretch quite a bit provided you do as instructed in the FAQs article.
What size butt diameter do they need to fit on? You could probably get them to open up at least half again their current size, although not much more than that. ............. Re: Corkalon grip ?

Thanks to everyone for your input with these grips. The grips have a 3/4" hole and I need for them to open 1 1/8" . I am going to try the water boiling trick and see if that will work. Thanks Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
