pewter thread

Next up on my bench, is a Dan Craft FTL 803-5. A search usually answers my question, but not this time. What I'm trying to achive is a ferrule wrap that closely matches the matte colour. If I use pewter thread without CP, will my end result be close ( probably lighter}? I know I could do a test wrap, but I'm hoping someone will have the answer.
Thanks Ross
ps. I don't have silk.

Just wet your thread with water and compare. If you don't like the color, you haven't hurt a thing.

Ross,

There is absolutaly no substitue for slapping some thread onto your blank and trying out. It's the only way. You are into the world of subectivity here. Only you is going to know if it's right. It's your rod.

hey ross, i forgot to mention... i'm kind of good with a camera, shooting just about everyday and can shoot the wraps with a macro undereven lighting condition and provide you with detailed photos to help. not the same as doing it yourself, i admit, but certainly better than trying to describe what it looks like with words and could save you the time of ordering, waiting and then trying it out yourself, if that's the situation you find yourself facing.

Thanks for the replies,& offer Eric. To much work, & laziness got the better of me. I'll do a test wrap, as I have the thread on hand.
