I just got back from a "fishing theme" scout camp, where I did a intro to rodbuilding. I was thinking on the drive back to finish the rod I demo'd in scout colors and maybe a small weave of the fleur -de -lis. I can order several spools of Gudebrod/Madeira and hope I get the colors close to their olive green and scout red, but does anyone know what color #s are the closest match? I'll be donating to the local troop for raffle, etc. Thanks Re: thread colors for Boy Scout rod

If you can, send a sample of fabric or something like that with the colors on it to Russ @ GOLDEN WITCH (SPONSOR AT THE LEFT) And he will tell you what to order for the match.

I took my son's old scout uniform and put it against a madeira color chart (shows the actual thread for all colors) A starting point for you might be 1637 (red) and 1669 (green) or perhaps 1969 (green) The charts are cheap (I paid around 5 or 6 dollars) and the thread is responsible too so it is easy to buy several colors and then settle on the best choice. You can never have too many thread colors lying around.

Thanks Jim. I ordered 7 spools to match the 2 colors. You're right...can't have too many diff. colors of thread. Jerry Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
