I'm in trouble. I don't have any more room in the corner to stack rods, my wife is tired of tripping over the tubes. I have my eye on some vacant wall space and wonder if there are any cons about storing fly rods assembled in horizontal racks.
Thanks for the information and such a great site. Jim Tester Re: Rod Storage

None really. Although, multi-piece rods should be disassembled periodically. Temperature changes over time can cause the ferrules to stick.

One way to maybe tighten up that corner to hold more rods is to use 5 gal. buckets to hold the blanks/tubes/rods. I did this, and now they're all full and I'm out of space again. LOL Ralph Re: Rod Storage

You could always take the rods apart and bind them together with some sort of rod wrap type of velcro strips. Then store them horizontaly. No worry about flex in the blank or sticking ferrules...plus it will take up less space.

Here is another thought.
I wrap on a table. the entire underside of that table has elastic bands stapled to it to allow me to store rods and sections under the table where they take up no floor space and keeps dust from collecting. You can also attach the same elastic bands to the sides of bookcases and even the back of the wrapping room door if you wish. Rays ceiling idea is a good one as well, or you can always take over a closet ? Derek Derek L.
