hi guys,
I just looked at Tim Campbell's Swifty Website and am wondering about his Diamondite finish. Is it an easy finish to apply to wraps. How about coating wood reel seat inserts? As some of you know from my previous posting, I'm working on getting a good finish for my inserts. I bought a pint of gloss Marine Spar finish that I'm going to try applying with a brush and Gerry Rhodes gave me a good procedure using CA glue that I need to try. Now I'm wondering about the Diamondite. Is it just for rods or can it be used on wood as well? thanks for the help! Andrew Re: Diamondite for Wood?

I have some of the Diamondite finish, adhesive, and CP ( if you use CP you must use the Diamondite CP when using Diamondite finish)
It's been on my shelf for several months now unopened (old habits again). To answer your question, according to the info. contained on the website and instruction sheet it should work well for your application. It is activated with incondescent light and sets very quickly if you maintain the temp. above 85 degrees F. according to what I have read. I got my starter kit from Mark & Colleen at @#$%&. It was not very expensive. Order some and give it a shot! Don't forget to post your results!! Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Re: Diamondite for Wood?

I'm not sure any of the thicker epoxy and similar coatings are all that great for wood. Depends on what look you're after.
But, having said that, anything epoxy will do on wood the Diamondite will do as well, just more quickly. It works as advertised. It's a neat product. It is heat, not UV that sets the Diamondite. As Raymond mentioned, you can get all the heat you need from a 100 watt incandescent light bulb. .................... Re: Diamondite for Wood?

I have been testing the product on wood with excellent results. I will be posting pictures on my website of the results.

if you are looking for a gloss finish that holds up well try using ca glue as a finish. it takes a few coats, but polishes up great and is crystal clear. just have good ventilation when you apply it. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
