Uh, oh, if I had thought about the no-cp finish being semi-transparent, I would have been a little more subtle with my pull-thru wrap tags - they shine like Rudolph's nose. There isn't anything I can do about it now, is there(except take it off and start over, of course)? Re: transparent wraps

Karen it is not the finish that is no cp needed it is the thread. You used regular nylon thread instead of NCP(no color preserver needed). Some like the translucent look. You can pack your threads tighter and shorten the pull-thru to reduce the chances of ti being visable. Also put it on the side of the rod not viewed while in use. Not really, Karen. At this point, what you have is all it's gonna be. If you are planning a rewrap though, you could try a marble job first or even just tinting your finish, just for giggles. Maybe even a trim band wrapped over the top of what is there, depending on the thickness of the finish. Never know, you might like the result. All you have to lose is the cost of another coat of finish. Re: transparent wraps

Karen,
Don't worry about this pull through. It's an honest part of the process. It has to be there. You can't really hide it. Another wrap on the top is not the solution as that will have it's own tag of nylon pulled through to. I would be wary of only hav ing a short pulled through end as you may loose tension on the wrap. Now that is a real issue. My wraps in A size thread on fly blanks trypically have a minimum of 8 turns to secure. I sometimes go to 10. Ok I use NCP but even with std thread I would use the same no of turns. I know we want to make em as pretty as possible but they are rods at the end of the day made to function and perform. Don't let liitle things like this bog you down. Don't waste time doing it again the result will be ditto! Relax. Enjoy Mike O. Re: transparent wraps

Thanks for the good ideas, guess I'll just forget about it and enjoy the rod. Re: transparent wraps
