ALPS printers, more questions

I have an MD-4000 printer.
It works fine with the standard Black, Yellow, Cyan and Magenta cartidges.
Can anyone tell me how to use the Metallic Gold and Silver cartridges. When I load them I get an 'error' at the printer.
Thanks

And does anyone know a link for downloading a manual - couldn't find it on the ALPD website as previously suggested.
Thanks again

Hi John,

If you don't get any info here you might try a Google search on Alps Printers. I don't have one yet but have been checking them out and there are several sites that discuss them.

John try Yahoo groups Alps printers and Alps decals more info then you will ever need- I looked at the one site that sells the cartridges and gold and silver are compatable, often the problem lies with the driver you are using for the printer, the latest and last drivers from alps can be found here [www.alpsusa.com].
third party drivers are available via alps decal group on yahoo

I had the same problem with my printer the old drivers would not load on my computer and the new drivers would not let me do metallics. I ended up getting an old laptop with windows 98. Doing that the old drivers loaded right up and the screen that askes about metallics pops right up any time I have a metallic cartridge loaded.

That one should work, are you putting it in the black cartrigde slot, I remove all other cartridges. Reset the printer. Set printer properties to print black and white it should work. If that's what you have done already go through all the steps again right from start.

Thanks Miles, that fixed it.
Can the same 'trick' be used to print with the white Alps cartridge?
