casting blank

This is my first post, but I have been browsing the site for about a month now. First off THANKS to all of you out there for sharing all this wonderful knowledge. I have enjoyed fishing the saltwater marshes and bays of South Louisiana all my life and just recently have been exposed to the art of custom rodbuilding. I just recently finished my first rod for specks and reds (G. Loomis P842-GL2), it is really an amazing feeling when you catch a fish on something you built. Anyway, my problem is although the Loomis blank is nice, I want to try other blanks and brands. Because I usually fish with Castaway, Falcon, and other factory rods, I am overwhelmed by the sheer variety of blanks available and was wondering what people who fish the same area or species as me use when they build their casting rods? Any blanks out there suited for this type of fishing (sparkle beetles and shrimp mostly, usually without a cork)?

Thanks for all the help,

Jared Fabre
