REESE, IN MY SHOP I HAVE 4 FLEXCOAT 4X DRYING RACKS. wE EPOXY 2-4 RODS PER MIX IN ROUGHLY 30-45 MINUTES. WE USE THE FLEXCOAT 18 RPM MOTORS FOR ROTATING AFTER THE RODS ARE TORCHED FOR BUBBLES AND LEVELING. THE FINISH "SPEEDS" UP FOR APPROX. 2 MINUTES AND FLOWS TOO FAST FOR FLEXCOATS 6 RPM. sIMPLY YOU DO NOT WANT TO GET THE FINISH "OUT OF ROUND". WHEN WE PAINT THE FOLLOWING OUNCE OF FINISH WE THEN MOVE THE FIRST BATCH TO THE 6 RPM MOTORS WHILE THEY ARE COOLED DOWN. bY THE TIME WE GET TO THE 16'TH ROD WE CAN PULL DOWN THE FIRST BATCH. I DO HAVE A PAC BAY "QUAD RACK" {4 MOTORS} WHICH TURNS AT 11 RPMS. i USE IT MOSTLY FOR ODD SIZE RODS. BATSON AND AMERICAN TACKLE SELL THE SAME SINGLE MOTORS AS PACK BAY AND I BELIEVE THEY ARE ALSO 11 RPMS. THE "CHUCK" ON THE FLEX COAT MOTORS IS FAR SUPERIOR. RODS FALLING OUT ARE RARE. EVEN THOUGH THEY LOOK FANCY, THE IMPORT CHUCKS DONT HOLD THE RODS AS WELL AND RODS FALLING OUT ARE COMMON. I HAVE HEARD OF SEVERAL PEOPLE ON THIS SITE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THE FLEXCOAT 6 RPM MOTOR IS VERY LONG LASTING, WHILE I DO HAVE TO REPLACE THE 18 RPMS ON OCCASION. WHATEVER YOU COME UP WITH I STILL THINK YOU SHOULD GET SOMETHING AT LEAST 10 RPM'S. KEVIN BOGAN
