Hey guys..I am making a 8' split grip spinning rod for a guy and he wanted the blank marbelized around the handle. I did and it looked really cool. Put it on the dryer and came in for supper. A couple of hours later went to check on it and found that my wife had accidently turned off the dryer. It had set up pretty good and the pattern I put in it isn't too bad but it is not smooth as I have been accustomed to doing after Putter good article. What is the best approach. Will another coat of finish help smooth it out?? (Wt. is not a problem........I am going to have to add a little to get a good balance) Should I heat it and take off the maberlizing?? What do you guys think.......... Big John Rio Hondo, Texas Blessed are those who can give without remembering and take without forgetting Re: Help....Dryer malfunction

John, If it's real bad, I would sand it down some (shouldn't affect the marbleing as it goes all the way through to the blank) and put a fresh coat on and you should be fine. If it's pretty lumpy, another coat will just make it thicker and lumpy.
Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: Help....Dryer malfunction

You can try using a razor blade. Hold the blade at 90% and lightly scrap the high parts of the finish till it is even with the rest of the finish then buff with a gray Scotch Brite scuff pad. Next put a new coat of finish on. Look at the bottom of the rod an fill in the low spots and level out.

No help with your problem but a suggestion to help in the future.
When I have a rod drying I tape the switch in the on position so there is no chance of me or my wife accedentally turning it off Re: Help....Dryer malfunction
