9' 5wt Suggestion

Been waiting on Dan Craft to get in the new 5wt 9' Sig V rods. I guess I'm going to have to give up. Anyone have suggestions for a similar rod for nymphing with a strike indicator on medium size water mailing fishing size 14 to 20's. Considering a H&H HHX, RX8+, or Dan Craft FT. Considering single foot recoil or snakes. This is to be my 4th rod to build so I'm looking to step up in components from the im6 rods I've previously built.

Dan will likely have them for sale within the next 4 weeks or so according to earlier posts. Personally I think he is worth the wait. The best thing to do is give him a call for an estimate. His Five Rivers blanks are sweet and a bargain.

Do you like fast, mod-fast, or moderate rods?

I use one of his FT's for the same purpose you describe and am well satisfied with the performance. If you call Dan and discuss your needs the call, most likely, will be well worth your time.

Ditto what Stan says ........ I use 2 or 3 nymphs , some shot and a good sized indicator on my FT , works like a charm in the spring when the water's up . Personally , I use Alconites or SIC on flyrods over 4wt , but the recoils are VERY light guides . Some guys complain about noise from the guides( Recoils ) , there is a bit , but It's not that bad . Snake guides are another subject .........
I would hold out for the blank you WANT , you'll always second guess your self down the road . Have fun , John . NERBS

Like John, I use alconites or sics and have no desire to return to wire.

feed the sickness, get something NOW, but definitely plan on the new Sig V too. you won't be sorry. four weeks? plenty of time to get the next one wrapped! ;-) check out the batson RX7+ and RX8+. i haven't built on them but that RX7+ color is sweet and the RX8+ might work well for you too.

Thanks for all the input. I prefer a fast rod but not ultra.
