Hello all,
I posted wrong the first time.....that's what happens when you dont read instructions..lol. I have a Rainshadow IS601 UL blank and the Od of butt is ~.235" the cork rings for the rear and fore grips have .250" ID. Can I use couple layers of spiraled masking tape to make up that little space? I slid on some of the rings and they are just loose enough to slide all the way off the rod. Thanks for the great Forum! Heh
Dave I answered this already. Ok you have 0.075 of an inch to make up. So try A size or C size wrapping thread, Do collars of thread at both ends of the cork and spiral out in between. Slap on the epoxy and you are good to go. Mike O. Re: Shimming for grips

Yeah I saw that I believe in the Tom Kirkman book. I will try that......Do collars need to be at the very bottom of butt and the top where the bottom and top ring will sit?
Thanks again Dave Re: Shimming for grips

I would spiral thread up the blank, A, D or whatever size you need. This would be better that tape.

Dave
Nearly at the end. You dont want the thread poking though. Say one sixteenth of an inch will be ok. Re: Shimming for grips

If your thread arbor ends up sticking out a little at the end, it's not big problem to fix. You just wait till the epoxy dries, and slice through it with a razor blade. It'll peel off to the grip. If it's really stuck good, then you can shave it off bit by bit with a razor blade. Not a real problem either way. Re: Shimming for grips
