Great forum, wished I'd known about it years ago.
I've just acquired a Loomis 1324 (2pc. 11', 0.5oz-3oz) blank to see if the light weight helps control elbow tendonitis this Southern Hemisphere winter. I'll mainly be slinging metal slugs and home-turned hardwood and hypalon poppers from 2oz to 2.5oz for Australian tailor (read: bluefish) and occasional mulloway (drum family). Line is 20lb PE braid with 1.3 rod lengths of 20-30lb of twisted double nylon leader joined to the bimini by a cat's paw knot. Reel is Saltiga Blast 4500; I know it's heavy but it cranks well and the drag is hot! I'm fortunate to have friends who are the national Fuji agents but I think I'll be be happy enough to fit BMNAG Alconite guides rather than stretch the friendship to Sic, or Ti. I'll go down to 8mm rings for the final few because the bimini and cat's paw aren't bulky. BMNAG only go up to 40mm for the choke guide so I'll have to be careful with spacings there or upgrade the choker to another guide series. Have any surf casters applied Fuji Concept-type spacings to this blank? Any spacing tips? At this stage I think I'll do grips in a double layer of nylon twine with heat shrink over. Vastly appreciate any help or suggestions. Re: Loomis 1324 guide spacings
