Metallic overwraps

Is metallic thread strong enough for guide wraps or do I need to put a nylon base wrap under the metallic. Re: Metallic overwraps

I think the HT is strong enough. I wrapped a light salt stick in it last year. Didn't catch much but I did beach a 30lb ray and nothing popped off, so I guess it'll hold. Re: Metallic overwraps

I use predominately metallics on my guide wraps. Strength has never been an issue! Actually Gudebrod HT metallic is stronger that their nylon!

Yes they are plenty strong enough.
