I am interested in your opinion. How many coats of lite build finish you all use for the inscription and cross wrap area on size A thread, light spinning rod? I assume the guides require less. Also, your thoughts on size D for med heavy casting rods. I don't think I am using enough lite coats.
Thanks, Jeff Re: # of Coats

The lower viscosity finishes can take up to 3 or 4 applications to build depth on butt wraps and size D thread. You can move to a higher build coating, which can be applied either thinly or thickly, to cover those areas faster.

Hello Jeff
For a light spinning rod consider using permagloss on the guides or LS Supreme for low or multiple epoxy coat finishing. U40's LS High build will cover your cross wrap and inscription in one coat. With a little practice U40 LS High Build will nicely do a low build on all the guides too. A very nice thing about U40's LS High Build is the viscosity stays very constant for much of it's pot life. Which is very adequate under normal epoxy temperature conditions. D threads are not a problem for U40 High Build. It will wet out very nicely and cover in one coat for a high, medium or low build.
