Hello, I am starting to mount some fly fishing rods and necessary of a table that has the spaces (lenght) between the guides for each size of rods ( 8,6´ or 9´) and (#2, #4, #6,#8) already looked for the InterNet, but did not find, somebody could help me?
Somebody knows some website where I can find these information? I wait a return, Thank You!! Re: Spaces Between Guides for Fly

Rafael,
Here is a link to spacing guides on a fly rod. I like it because it considers line weight as well as rod length: www.flyfisherman.com/rodbuilding/index6.html There are a lot of links to spacing charts, and most of them are quite similar to this one. Most custom rod builders use the table as a starting point only, then use static testing to determine the final placement. There is an article in the forum library about how to determine the best guide spacing. If you're just starting building rods, a spacing chart will work fine. Jim Re: Spaces Between Guides for Fly

Dear Rafael,
I just can triple underline what JIM wrote, take one of these charts and then check with static testing if it really works. My first rod I just built following a table, now I am thinking to strip and rebuild the rod completely. What I found out what works best in regard of visibility is to use fluo orange or yellow backing to see exactly what happens during static testing. Really take the additional time and check with different setups, the outcome will be much better than just following a table full of numbers - they did not know while writing their tables if your rod is fast, slow, moderate, tip- mid- or full flex, one two three piece... As you can see I just gone through the same a couple of days ago. Good Luck! RGDS, Ole Re: Spaces Between Guides for Fly

Static testing is the only way to go. Search this site and there is a good article by Tom Kirkman in the library. Have a good day. Big John Rio Hondo, Texas Blessed are those who can give without remembering and take without forgetting Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
