Can any one offer advice on making a grip that is a combination of wood and cork? I would like to start at the winding check with leopard wood (taper back 1â€) butting to burnt burl cork and back to leopard wood. From there attach the up locking reel seat. Should I glue the cork and the wood together and then turn? Or do I turn the wood and the cork separately? Are there any tutorials that will help my cause? Any advice and guidance would be greatly appreciated. This is my first attempt and would like to make it a success.

There is information recently on this subject in the files if you do a search on wood cork grips. You do best to glue the pieces to begin with and turn as one unit for starters. Stan Grace Helena, MT "Our best is none too good" Re: Advice for turning a grip cork / wood combo

Like Stan, I glue them up aand turn them together. When sanding, make sure to use a block to prevent them from sanding unevenly as the cork will sand much faster. Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
