Nickel silver ferrule

What should I use to polish the male section of a nickel silver rod ferrule? It fits tightly and I've No wish to change this, only to make it look better. Will silver jewelry polish work and if so which one? Ralph

If at first you don't succeed, go fishing, then try, try again.

Ralph;
If it fits well, then the best thing to do is leave it alone!If you must polish it and risk loosening the fit, then use a non abrasive type of polish such as Nevr Dull .

don't polish it. you would be amazed how easy it is to go from a good fit to too loose. even metal polish can do it. besides. it is not going to stay polished anyway. ok to polish the barrel but leave the slide alone.

Just clean the inside of the female ferrule with a small piece of super fine,0000, steel wool follwed by using a Q-tip dipped in lacquer thinner to remove any residue.

If it is not new, and does not need lapping, I'd just clean it with some laquer thinner and leave it alone... if you start to polish it, as the fellows above said, you will soon loose your good tight fit... it is a fine line..

Tight lines

Thanks for the advice. I don't want, I very much don't want to lose the tight fit of this ferrule. By the way, before I asked my question, I took a cotton handkerchief with denatured alcohol and cleaned out the female portion of the ferrule. This did a fine job. I will take a clean cotton handkerchief with denatured alcohol and do all the polishing the male ferrule is going to get. I think I'm afraid of even 0000 steel wool on this. Again, thanks. Ralph
