I have been searching for a 3pc 8ft9 4wt Dan Craft SIG V blank for what seems like months now,but have not been able to find one.Dan has been out of them for some time,as has his distributor here in Canada.
I know there are still 6-10 wt blanks available, but the light ones are gone.I've also heard that there will be some changes coming to the SIG V line of blanks and that they may be changing to 4pc.I'm sure any new models will be exceptional,as all Dan's blanks are,but I would really like to get my hands on one more 8ft9 4wt in the 3pc version, just in case the new ones are slightly different,or in case the new ones aren't available in this length&weight. I placed an ad in the Buy & Sell, but unfortunately the only recommendation I managed to get didn't pan out,so I figure I better ask here to see if anyone has any suggestions on where I might find one of these particular blanks.I REALLY would like to find one more of these in the 3pc version,so if anyone has one and might consider parting with it,or if anyone knows a retailer or something where I might be able to get one,I would be extremely grateful for the info. Thanks. Tony Dowson Re: Where to find a 3pc 8ft9 4wt Dan Craft SIG V

Martin,
I'm also looking for that blank, in the gloss finish (I'm not sure what "unsanded means"...is that gloss?). Your email is hidden. Tony gets first choice, though. Re: Where to find a 3pc 8ft9 4wt Dan Craft SIG V

The unsanded blanks still have the spiral pattern from the wrappng that was on them when they rolled and cooked the blank. The sanding process takes a couple thousandths off the blank and smooths the blank surface. My 10 wt is a spiral blank and I really like it for it's individuality. Hey Scott....
Tried to email you through your shop email address....evidently wasn't working. Just wanted to say hello...Didn't realize you were now so close! And I'm not giving up my 844-3, either! A belated welcome to Oregon! Keith Re: Where to find a 3pc 8ft9 4wt Dan Craft SIG V

Patrick,
Several things 1) in Dan's 2005 catalog Sig V blanks were described as 'Matte sanded (M) or Spiral (S) finish'. Spencer's note provides a technical description that links my use of 'unsanded' to the true description of 'Spiral' (per Dan's catalog). 2) The 'Spiral' finish has a clear finish on the (unsanded) blank surface. Spencer also describes the sanding process that accounts for the finish of a 'Matte sanded' blank. Although the 'Spiral' finish is very distinguished, I like both. 3) I believe the Sig V range for 2006 are available in 'Matte sanded (M) or Matte Clear (MC) finish' - I suggest Dan is the appropriate authority on the definition of 'Matte Clear'. 4) I have this particular blank in 'Spiral' and 'Matte sanded' - the more I look, the more I am finding (3 Spiral, 4 Matte). 5) I think you can't see my email because you are not logged into the site/your site profile. I will email you 'offline'. Martin Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 02/23/2006 11:32PM by martin_walker. Re: Where to find a 3pc 8ft9 4wt Dan Craft SIG V

Martin, thanks. "Spiral" is what I want. I'll await your email. Re: Question for Dan Craft

Dan,
In a recent thread, it was mentioned that you have blanks in both Matte (sanded) and Spiral (unsanded) conditions. Would you care to speculate on the effect sanding has on the ERN of a typical rod blank? Bill Re: Where to find a 3pc 8ft9 4wt Dan Craft SIG V

Martin, I'm still hoping to hear from you about an 8'9" Dan Craft Siv V 4 wt. with a spiral finish. Thanks. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
