Thread color on Lamiglass

I am not very color coordinated. I have a 3 piece Lamiglass fiberglass (Tan) rod. I also have a spool of brown classic thread. My concern is the ferrule wraps. Any other color recomendations. I'm open to any idea..

Bob,

Why not use the brown for the guide and ferrule wraps? The latter do not have to be invisible and in fact will look odd if you choose a thread to match to the blank color that isn't very close. Most of the time I try to match the reel insert color as closely as possible, or else try to match the blank color for every wrap. (I much prefer the former.)

I am not very color-coordinated either, so often I ask my wife (who is) what I should use. Don't be afraid to ask any non-fisher, as they're not as locked into what a rod should look like as we are.

Jim

Bob,
I have built many of these rods personally. The brown is a very traditional color on that blank color and if you wish to get a little more into the traditional cane type make ups then there are some greens and oranges that look very nice also.

i have built several of these. get some pearsols silk in chestnut and don't use color preserver. don't use the gossimer use the thicker stuff. get it from golden witch. i have also used orange and black jasper (actually brown). yellow and black jasper (actually a light green) would look great. use color preserver on the jasper threads. they are a gudbrod product. i got mine from neal's fishing products.
