thickness of madeira thread

How thick is Madiera #40 polyneon in comparison to Guderbrod A thread nylon and cp? It makes a difference when multiple colors are used in a weave. I try to keep all thicknesses the same, if possible. Thanks
Sanford

Compared to size A thread it is slightly smaller, but not very much.

Hi Sanford. It is a bit smaller than "A" Gudebrod. I would say if you are laying out a 50 thread layer you will probably be about 3 to 4 threads off. Not bad and worth the bother to get the beautiful colors that they have. I ofter use both A and 40 wt especially if I only use a few of the A to get a certain look. The larger the pattern and the more threads of course the more you will be off but I havent had too much trouble making it work. I even sneak in a "B" sunset once in a while because it is a very small B. Drop me a line if you have any questions. I will be here til Monday then I am off to another show for a week.

Thanks guys,
I thought so, but wasn't sure. I wanted to use the Trimar white/gold with the A, but with the amount of thread I am using and the multiple colors, it would have thrown the whole design off, so I will go with an off white madiera that looks pretty good. I will use an underwrap of off white with a winding thread of black to get the body, then use some metallic gold and royal blue as well as other colors. Hope it works. Looks good on paper.

Size A Gudebrod is .006"

There you have it.
