After looking at a previous post I had a question.

When comparing modulous can it be assumed that rods with the same or similar modulous made by different manfacturers will feel and perfom the same or very similar, thus making price the determining factor when selecting a blank where a specific brand is not specified?

No, I wouldn't make that assumption. Blank diameter, material wall thickness, blank taper, tip size, many things to take into account. The CC system is the easiest way to bring things closer.

No not all. Just as cars made from the same metal won't look, drive or motivate the same. The fiber is only one of many factors in how a rod feels, performs, etc. The overall design fo the rod, the taper, the diameter, the wall thickness, etc. will all play major roles in this area. Rods made from identical fibers of the same modulus can vary widely in all facets of feel and performance.

This is the basic reason Rod mfg's have stopped indicating the modulas of Graphite used in each series of rods they produce, the general public would only use that ONE particular aspect to judge a rod, when there might be a blend of graphite and then only the higher modulas graphite is represented and they would never tell you to what extent. The is further variance of the VARIABLES, (noted in the post above) that can even be quanitifed further, tapers for instance, there are multi- taper rod blanks, where these tapers are placed affect a blank as much as any other variable. Epoxies are far superior today then when graphite was 1st introduced, thats why the necessity of under wraps has virtually disappeared for freshwater blanks, and now only rarly mandated because blank wall thicknesses are so thin and they (under wraps) help spread the load whereas, epoxies of old would dent under the stress of a guide foot. Blank walls are made thinner by the intorduction of a initial graphite scrim replacing heavier thicker fiberglass scrims as the starting structure the graphite is laid up to with heat sensitive epoxies. There are far too many attributes to allow the would-be-public just to denote one aspect when making a rod choice
