Has any one ever wrapped guides with clear mono or fluorocarbon?
If so what was the result? Have they held up? Was also thinking about useing clear poly. Was just wondering what would be the best options? Re: question

I have done many this way. The result is a silvery colored wrap. Do not expect it to disappear.

Yes. Cajun Red, IronSilk, Ande (yellow and pink). Best with the thinnest and limpest mono you can find. I also tried with "Power Pro" - unsuccessful I think because of the coating on the line which I should have known before I tried it - poor finish. Re: question

That is exactly how Berkley wrapped the Cherrywood Rods they had years ago!
I was doing a repair on a Cherrywood and couldn't match the thread. I called Berkley and they told me the "THREAD" they used was 6 lb. test XL line made by them and dyed red. The good folks at Berkley were nice enough to send me a 1/4 lb spool of the thread at no cost. I have repaired dozens of Cherrywoods since then and it matches perfectly.
