First time trying Thread Master. It is thicker than I am used to (FC Lite). On this thicker-type thread finish are most people putting 1 or 2 coats? Re: Thread Master - 1 or 2 coats?

Leon, Whatever works for you! Everyone's preferences are different. I use two coats while some might get it done with one on light rods.
Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: Thread Master - 1 or 2 coats?

Leon,
Warm the bottles in your hands a touch before mixing and it thins out nicely! I did that the 2nd time I used it because I was use to a thinner finish to work with. Like Mike, I do two coats. you're going to like the way Andys TM sets up, unlike any I've used. Does a GREAT job. DR Re: Thread Master - 1 or 2 coats?

I use 2 coats, with 6 hours inbetween...first is a sealer coat, second is the finish coat. This allows me to trim any fuzzies if they should show themselves bewteen coats.
Technically, this is still one coat as they will cure into one another if applied within 48 hours.....I guess we could say it's 2 applications. I don't know about you guys, but I am getting the thinnest flattest finish I ever have with TM, even though it is not a lite finish. I am biased because it's my finish, but I really love this stuff....I'd be using it even if somebody else would have brought it to the table. By the way, stop by the booth in charlotte to see the UV stick, to see how clear TM stays in comparison to the other brands. Andy Dear www.lamarfishing.com Re: Thread Master - 1 or 2 coats?

One great feature that hasn't been talked about is the margin for error. I have ALWAYS mixed finish a min of 3cc of each component. Since Andy mentioned to me that it was pretty forgiving and I really hate to mix 3cc's to do ONE guide wrap for a repair (I do a lot of repairs) I tried mixing 1/2 cc of each (measured by syringe) and it worked great. Have done this 4 times so far aand it cured perfect each time!
Sorry Andy, probably shouldn't have let the cat out of the bag!!! People won't have to reorder as often!!! Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: Thread Master - 1 or 2 coats?

What's the pot life of the Threadmaster? I really like the luxury of time that LS Supreme gives me, about 45 minutes or more. How does TM compare? Re: Thread Master - 1 or 2 coats?
