I'll try this again since somebody just deleted my previous post. I'm building about my 10th rod, but my first fly rod. I've got a pac bay reel seat, and the metal end cap is very short, and does not fit snug. Do I just epoxy it in there? It just does't seem like much metal for the epoxy to bite into. Any advice is appreciated. Re: end cap again.

Epoxy it in there. The fit is not particularly good, but epoxy will hold it in most cases. Clean it, then scuff all mating surfaces, small though they may be, with Scotchbrite and adhere.

I'm not sure I understand the question. If the cap is a bit large, perhaps the extra space is meant to be the place where the rear foot of the reel itself goes. This would assume that the seat has a downward-locking upper reel lock.
If that's the case, put a small amount of epoxy on the cap and on the butt end of the seat, making sure you don't get any epoxy where the reel foot is going to go. Now put the cap on the seat, hold it a moment so it starts to glue up, and then put the reel on the seat, locking the top lock about halfway. This will set the cap up with the proer gap needed for the reel. Hope that helps - - - Uncle Russ Re: end cap again.

Rob,
Follow Tom's advice....Rod bond or epoxy will fill in the gaps use generous amounts...wipe of any excess after you mate the parts. I would suggest a 7 or 8 " pc of masking tape to hold it in place til the adhesive sets....start the tape on the cork handle then straight down the reelseat over the cap and back up the other side of the cork. It will hold it there til it dries which is all you need. Some people use masking tape over the threaded components of the reel seat also to avoid getting any adhesive or finger prints on the hardware...it only takes a min and then you don't have to worry about getting epoxy in places it shouldn't be. I ask people not to put photos in their messages as it eats up bandwidth that we cannot spare. Rodbuilding.org is teetering on the brink of going down at any time.
