I recently used krylon fixatiff an a metallic silver signature. The fixatiff was 2 to 3 years old and it left a redish tint to the signature. I removed the signature and
started over with a new can of fixatiff and the new signature was clear. Beware of old fixatiff. Re: Fixatiff concern

Actually, beware of any liquid material more than a couple years old. FlexCoat after it's been opened will thicken up and U40 is even worse. Same problem with PacBay highbuild or any of the epoxies. It has to do with evaporation of the suspension material but it's the same effect as using old paint. Even if the color's OK, the viscosity may make the stuff unusable. Some materials can be restored with heat (some of the directions on the bottles suggest this) and some others can be thinned, for example with acetone, but in general you'll not get the same results as with fresh stuff.
