Allen,
I have never had the gudebrod metallic threads I use go transparent. What type of thread did you use? Chris Re: opacity of threads

That doesn't sound right to me either although I generally only use Gudebrod HT and Sulky metallics. I've never seen a metallic thread to transparent. Actually I thought it was impossible for such a thing to happen as they are made with foil.

I'm like everyone else, what kind of metallic thread? This may sound like a stupid question, but did the thread actually have a coating of metallic film over it or was it just regular thread that was a "metallic" color?? I have seen threads in sewing stores that were called, for instance, "metallic red", which was just the color name and was NOT a metallic thread.
If the thread has an actual metallic laver, CP or finish should not be capable of penetrating the metallic layer. Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: opacity of threads

Allen,
Have no clue!! I don't know how the metallic could do that. Maybe someone else can figure it out Mike Re: opacity of threads

Stumped! I just ran bands of gudebrod 9000 on a piece of scrap black blank - applied no CP; applied sections of different epoxies (PacBay RodSmith, American Tackle, LS Supreme, U-40 Duragloss Supreme, Flex Coat, some old Clemen's Crystal Coat) and did not have the same result - the gold stayed gold metallic.
