Anyone ever use their tubular fiberglass blanks; I'm thinking about getting their 5' UL for my second rod to wrap. Any opinions: junk, okay, or good value for the buck?

Brian - I'm unfamilar with the Netcraft blanks, but at the prices they are it can't hurt. Everyone has good things to say about Jann's as well.

What's the deal with these sissy UL rods. I wanna hear you ask about a Black Drum rod!!! Did you ever do the Scrimshaw stuff? I think your idea is definately doable.....do a search for polyester Casting resins - the guy you want to speak with is Joe Emig. A little far off, but once you get the hang of this rod building you should definately look into it.

Maybe inlay a Skate tail in teh grip....I know a guy you could charter who specializes in Skates, lol!!

I built a rod on an ul 5' black fiberglass netcraft blank about 7 or 8 years ago. If it is still the same blank (it cost about 5 bucks) its worth it. It has a nice a slow action , typical to most fiberglass rods. I really liked the blank a lot for smaller fish and actually landed a couple steelhead and lake trout on it so its a pretty strong blank.
