My next project will be making a fly rod. I would like a quality American Made Fly Rod. I was thinking CROIX, but I am open to any opinion.

Thanks,
Jeffrey

I'd go to a few shops, test cast some rods, and build on that blank. St Croix, Lamiglas, G Loomis, Talon, Thomas & Thomas, some Winston, Graphite USA, Shikari, Sage, R B Meiser and C.F. Burkheimer are US blank manufactures found on this site. Also some of the larger shops like Angler's Workshop carry their line of blanks built by one of the above.
Really depends on what you you're looking for, the sponsors to the left are there to help.

Spencer-

Thanks for your input. Ok there are a lot of choices. I want to build my first fly rod, and I just getting into Fly Fishing. I fish mostly inshore and offshore saltwater. I will be saltwater flyfishing 99% of the time, rather than freshwater. I think most likely it is appropriate that I go with an 8 or 9 weight. I want to get a nice blank, made in the US, that isn't priced too high, but still real nice. Basically upper middle end. I am thinking that I would like a 2 or 4 piece.

Thanks,
Jeffrey

I appreciate everyone else who took time to respond.....

Lamar Reelseats, BAF 909-2, All Star Austin fly blank. Great blanks that you'll still be using years from now, would be high on my list.
