I have a problem with basic rod wrapping, the eye foot is sticking up too much... even over the underwrap. I am having trouble beginning wrapping the foot.
Thanks in advance. Tyrus Hoshino Re: Help please...

If I understand you correctly the foot is not level. what you do is bend the foot so it well lay flat. You may also have to file the tip of the foot so it bevels down slightly towards the blank and also file the bottom of the foot to make it lay flat against the blank. I hope I understood you correctly

Yes, Bob has it right. First, bent the feet so they are parallel with the blank. Be persnickity, get full contact over the length of the feet. Then taper the top ends of the feet so you have a ramp on the top end for the thread to climb. Then be sure you debur the bottoms and tips so they are smooth. Straitening and shaping and deburring of the guide feet will make all the difference and the thread will then just walk right on up with no problems. Re: Help please...

You may find it helpful to run the guide bottom over a round, non-tapered type chain saw file. This will level the bottom and contour it to perfectly fit the blank. Lock the file in a vise and sit the guide on it and run it over in the direction of cut (don't just push it back and forth - that will ruin the cutting teeth of the file). Doesn't take long, only a few passes per guide.
