I'm helping some people build a few rods this winter, and I know a lot of you here have built on Dan Craft blanks, so I thought I'd ask what's worked best for you regarding:
1. Guide sizes for the 10 foot, 6 weight FT and guide spaceing (gives me a starting point before a do a static test) 2. Guide sizes for the 9 foot, 6 weight FT and guide spaceing (same reason) (both blanks are four pieces) Thanks Re: Guide sizes for Dan Craft FT

Get the spacings from the man himself. If you are running ceramics, #16 and #12, #8, #7, and #6 to tip...for snakes, #16, #12, 5, 4, 3 to tip. Scott Kinney The Longest Cast Fly Rods [www.thelongestcast.com] Re: Guide sizes for Dan Craft FT

Tim,
I like mine light and to cast to best of the fishermens ability. The smaller the guides the better. For BOTH of those rods, I'd go with all single foot ceramics, a #10 stripper, a #8 4 inches up, one #7 as a transition, and then either 6's or 5.5s for all the rest INCLUDING the tip top. Spacing is something that each blank needs to have done individually, but I'd have around 12-13 guides on the 10 footer and probably 10-12 on the 9 depending on the blank. Dan Craft does send spacing information with the blanks, I think (always pitch that stuff). Good Luck! Buddy Re: Guide sizes for Dan Craft FT

I think I would go with a 12 and a 10 (or an 8)....then 6's all the way out.
