A rod building student wants to build a hand held trolling rod for lake trout. They drive up to Canada, rent boat and troll for lakers. Set up is for level wind reel, lead is attached to line and trolled with cow bells and other type laker lures. Sometimes they fly in so a 2 pc rod blank is needed.
The lead that is attached to the line to get the lure to the lakers depth is from 4 to 6 ounces. 6'6" rod or shorter. Tip needs to give a little so they can actually feel the fish as opposed to winching up the lead and finding a fish on the end. Anyone with a blank suggestion or experience please respond. Braided line is used, no wire line. Thanks Buzz Re: strange but true request for a blank, need help

To that come imediately to mind is the Rainshadow 6 ft 2 in. IC 747-3 & 7 ft 847-3 blanks. They were designed to throw big plugs at big peacock bass. One of the 847-3 blanks has been up north fishing for lakers and pike with good results. The Lamiglas GBT 843L has been descibed to me to be a decent 20 lb livebait blank so I'd look at it also. St Croix has the 2C70HF2 and the 2C66MHF2 blanks, and the GI70HF3 3 piece blank. I know the 3 piece blanks are out of their length range put together, but well within their needs taken apart.
