Wonder Weaver

Does anyone have any experience with the Wonder Weaver?

I've watched the DVD on this and the rod appears to be set up on a lathe.
Is a lathe required to make this thing work properly? Can it be used on a simple rod wrapping stand?

Finally, is there a cheaper alternative to the Wonder Weaver?

You could use it on any steady rod wrapping stand. It's not limited to use on an expensive rod lathe.

Is there a cheaper alternative? Sure there is/are. Many looms and jigs are available that will allow you to more easily weave, although few can claim the host of abilities and features of the WW.

I don't know exactly where you're located, but at the National Rod Builders Show in February (Charlotte, NC) you can see the WW in person, along with the inventor. Try it out, ask questions, attending a weaving seminar if you like.

Also on tap will be Stan Lothamer's WeaveEasy loom (or is it, EasyWeave loom). Another alternative and one you can also see in action at the show.

Michael; I sent you a picture of the WW set up on my travel lathe. If you have questions just ask.

Drop Jim Kastorf a line. He's a regular on here. I purchased one of his looms a couple of years ago and it works perfectly and very easy to use and set up. You won't be able to do a 360 weave, but I imagine if you were to use two of his looms opposite of each other, it would be close enough for a amatuer like me. They aren't nearly as expensive as a WW either.
