I've got some of Andy's Laguna burl rings plus some other burl rings that I picked up as well. I've kept them in the plastic bags they came in and they still have that strong burnt smell. Does this go away eventually or am I suppose to seal it with something? Thanks. Re: Eliminating odor from burl cork rings.

Let it breathe and enjoy the "aroma." The odor of burnt cork is pleasing to many older builders who had to go so many years without being able to acquire the stuff. The first time I recently opened a bad and caught a whiff of that sweet smell I knew I had gotten ahold of one of the rarest types of cork rings - burnt cork.
The odor will not be nearly as noticeable once you have it out in the open for awhile, but it will remain if you put your nose right down on the rings. No big deal. Most won't find it offensive. ........... Re: Eliminating odor from burl cork rings.

Yeah....just put some use on it, and it will subside.

Andy,
Have you thought of a side business of burnt cork potpourri or auto scent trees for us rodbuilders? Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
