Hi Everyone,
I'm building a pair of rods for two kids who got hit hard by the storms in Louisiana last year. The rod for the boy is completed and I have posted a photo on the photo section here of the 5ft ultra-light with a cedar handle. Thanks for the compliments Mike, Sam, & Steve! The problem I have now is building one just as snappy for his sister and as I don't as yet turn my own handles I need to buy one if I can. So, if anyone could help me out by turning one for me at a fair price I would be forever grateful!! I'm thinking somthing with pink ? The material used is not important, cork, wood, eva, just something not to expensive but what little girl would be very happy with and a "one of a kind". Some of you may have heard about the kids as NBC news did a story about them and the family but I wont' mention their names here. I saw the story and thought if I could do nothing else I could send the kids a pair of pretty new fishing rods! Just wish I could have seen the story long before X-Mas. What a nice thing for Santa to bring!! Billy Vivona, if you read this, your EVA inlays are just what the doctor ordered! I just hope your not to busy or priced out of my range. If anyboby has any ideas to share or can build an ultra-light spinning handle for a little girl's rod. Please email me. The twins will be going into the hospital soon as the boy will be getting a bone marrow transplant so God willing I would like to have the second rod built and both rods shipped so they will get them at the hospital ( that is the contact info I have for them) in time for them to be used after they heal up so I have a little time to play with. This post was the quickest way I could think of to get some help with this very important project I have started. Thanks again, Thanks in advance Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Re: Help with a rod handle for a little girl

It looks great...I tried to post a compliment on your photo but it wouldn't let me. I am not sure why. Anyway.........I have some Pink Thread and some Pink Foam for accent I would be happy to send you. I used it in a ultra lite for one of my grandaughters. Used lime green trim and it came off very well. Just email me with your address and I will be happy to help. Again good looking handle and fore grip.

So, Raymond, can you please give me some info on the ISC show. When, where, website link??? Forget that. Just found this: [www.sportsexpos.com]
As to the handle, just give me cork rings or a hunk of wood and I will happily turn a handle for you. I have burl rings in several colors for dressing it up some. Can plan to meet you at the show on Saturday. I can bring a bag of materials and we can spec out what you need. 916-625-1309 days, ask for Tim. Thanks, Tim Stephens Rocklin, CA Edited 1 time(s). Raymond - I built a fly rod for my daughter and used Pink Ivory (the wood) for the seat insert and grip inlay accents. I used a black blank with "hot pink" Sulky thread. She calls it her Reece Witherspoon rod - feminine, but not "girly" :) As you sort out your offers, keep me in mind. I'd be happy to turn something for you. Buy a "Hot Pink" golf club grip and enlarge the vent hole to the same size as the grip, use a blank that fits the grip, glue the grip on the blank big end up and go from there. Jesse Re: Help with a rod handle for a little girl
