Last fall I built a 12 1/2 foot, 7-8 weight rod from a forecast blank, and fished it with a DT8 on the Salmon in Pulaski. Being new to the double-handed rod, I took a lesson from a local guru, Pat Muira, who taught me the basics and suggested I buy a spey line, though he didn't say which one. These lines are quite expensive, and I don't have the opportunity to try them, so any feedback would be appreciated. Those of you who know the blank, what works for you? Thanks in advance.... charlie Re: line for forecast rod

I've got the 13' 8/9 and use an Orvis Floating 8wt Mid Spey line (medium length head)
It loads the 13' well. Their Short Head 8wt spey is on sale for $25, online. Shorter heads are easier to cast and to learn two-handed casting with. I think it would fit your need. [www.orvis.com] RB Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
