just a quick question. i am looking at a perfection reel seat to go on a catfish rod i am building for my self. they say this is a salt water reel seat sso what makes this different than other reel seats. i also noticed that it is totally round and does not have a flat section for the reel to sit. is this a good seat for a catfish rod? "they say this is a salt water reel seat sso what makes this different than other reel seats."
A saltwater seat, in very general terms, differs from fresh water in two ways. Bigger and higher resistance to corrosion. "is this a good seat for a catfish rod?" If it fits the reel to be used, it might just be a good match. Now, catfish come in a vast range of sizes. You talking little 1 or 2 pounders or 50+ lb channel cats??????? It makes a difference. HI Kevin,
Perfection has good seats, along with AFTCO, PAC BAY, FUJI........ There may not be a flat spot on body of seat, but the hoods are milled out to accept the reel Dave von Doehren PRRODS......If man built it , man can fix it.and if man built it man can break it ! Re: reel seats

Sounds like you are talking about a Machined Hood reel seat, if so, it is much stronger than the Stamped Hood reel seat with the flat spot you mentioned. The stamped hood type will be strong enough as long as you have the right size. Jesse Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
