Bamboo Cane Rod Refinishing

I got a couple rods from an older gentleman and one of them was a bamboo cane rod, like the calcuttas sort of. The bamboo goes all the way to the butt. Its about an 8 1/2 foot rod. I took it fishing and it fishing nicely in the surf and jetties. The wraps and handle looks like it was done very well and shows a good bit of age. The handle is some sort of cord wrap with a reel seat wound into the cord wraping.

I was thinking about refinishing it because I kind of like the rod, I doubt that its really worth anyhting but was told it was from the mid forties. My question is would anyone really go through tthe time to refinish something like this or is it a waste of time and energy. The second thing was about redoing the rod butt. What would you do with a cord wrapped butt if you were going to refinish it? Rewrap the butt with cord, try to find a new butt, or reel seat? The rod is nice and straight and chucks a half mackeral quite a ways lol.

Hi ED

I might be speaking out of school here but I think you might talk to Art Paramore. I think Bamboo is his game but not sure.

Email me privately if you can. Are you able to send a pic of the rod?
Maybe I can suggest some things to you.
Tight lines ~
