I use my overhead lighting as a straight edge, I just run my thread down the white glare line on top of the blank. Re: weaving letters

After you complete each letter stop, look, and pull the threads into line using a light glare edge or a piece
of string stretched across. Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Re: weaving letters

Very often if you have used a computer to make your pattern you forget to justify your letters to the center instead of to a margin. When you do that the letters will appear to run off center because of the rod taper and different letter widths. Re: weaving letters

Hi Allen I wish I could add some outstanding pearl of wisdom but I cant. I pretty much do what has already been said but have discovered it happens less the closer the thread is presented to the rods that way each turn of the rod has less influence on the pattern threads. I think!?!
For a side bit of info I use the overhead lighting to aid in setting up a straight line for cross wraps. Old school stuff again. Doc Re: weaving letters

In addition, you might consider utilizing approx 6oz of tension on your wrapping thread. I also found that if I shorten the distance between looms this also helps . Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
