Color preserver and Metalic thread

I'm using metalic thread for under wrapsand was wondering if I need to use color perserver. My first thought is the color preserver is useless with the mylar in the thread, but my second thought says "Ask the Forum". Better safe then sorry.

Thanks,
Will

No need for it on Metallic's. Although some people do use it. I know Doc does CP on all threads no matter what. Scott

Hi Will - Scott is right I am a CP addict but that is just the way I do things. You know "dont fix what aint broken" type attitude of the neanderthal. That being said the answer to your question is NO. Your dont have to use CP on metallics in general. A few caviots though. 1. I have heard of some fading problems with purple from Gudebrod but that might just have been a batch problem. 2. Putting CP on metallics might make it easier to wrap over them if you have problems with the overwrap gapping. 3. I understand that Madeira metallics have silicone in them and CP will avoid getting fisheyes. I have no personal experience on this one because I am still paying for the HUGE (390+ spools) box of Madeira I got this year and dont want to mortgage the house to get all there other neat stuff. Actually I am running out of room. Feel free to email me anytime.

Hey Scott - Telling all my deep dark Secrets!?! LOL Kidding of couse(I dont know how to put a smiley face here)
