Can anyone tell me whether there is a guide available or similar that feeds the line into the blank. I have a number of bait jig rods to build. Or are there components available to make the bait jig rods. Re: Guide that feeds line inside of blank

Are you asking if there's a guide to feed the line inside of the blank? Re: Guide that feeds line inside of blank

Isn't that the one where they use the Fuji Power Oval guide? Regards, Todd Vivian Mud Hole Custom Tackle todd@mudhole.com Re: Guide that feeds line inside of blank

Yep - Todd you cracked that nut! I bought six at the Houston Boat Show about five years ago after test casting on the show floor with an anti backlash automatic free wheeling baitcaster. I paid $ 100 for the reels and $ 100 each for the rods. When I took them fishing I found out that wet line does not slip and slide too well on the inside of a blank! Could not sell them on @#$%& and the garbage man refused to pick up trash that long.

Merrick Tackle carries the guides and blank to build these inner-line rods. A message thread on this was posted here a few months back. Do a search for "sabiki" or "sabiki rig" to see what comes up.

Thanks Lou, I knew I had seen them.
Bill send them down here mate, I could sell them all for you, for a large fee. Re: Guide that feeds line inside of blank

Myles,
I got bitten just like Bill did. Test casted one for bass fishing dry at a shop, thought 'WOW' and had to have it. Line got wet, rod performance was a disaster. Still, I tried to keep using it, but there were other problems besides not casting well. Primarily it really tore up the line (monofilament), and I had to replace daily. Cut the blank up for reamers years ago. Once I got into rod building, of course, I understood why this concept is so flawed. Since the 'inner line' concept seems to have met it's inevetible demise on this side of the equator, can you enlighten us as to why something so flawed is 'popular' down under? Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks, Buddy Re: Guide that feeds line inside of blank

A couple of you might be mistaken for what I am chasing. These are sabiki bait jig rod you don't cast them, they allow the bait jig (many little hooks) to be wound into the blank as they are know to get tangled. The sinker is wound into the tip to prevent the jig from being wound onto the reel. Someone could give a better discription. But really they are designed specially for this type of bait jig and nothing else. Re: Guide that feeds line inside of blank
