Oversized Tip Tops for Ice Rods

I own a small rod and reel repair shop in Kenora, ON., Canada.

Can anyone advise me where I can purchase oversize tip tops for ice rods. I need 16 or 20mm rings in sized 6-9 including half sizes. I have tried in Canada with limited sucess. The larger tip top stops the top eye from freezing in cold temperatures when reeling up, especially when jigging at different depths. Also when people break off their tip tops they always want a larger one.

Any assistance much appreciated.

Bruce

Bruce, some guys use 16 spinning guide as a tip top. I got some from neals last year 16,s tip tops. You guys have the cold weather up there, you need the big ones. John

Jann's Natcraft has them. To keep ice build up use dry fly floatin on the line and guide rings. I use it steelhead fishing the ice pops off as I reel in.

We are fishing lake trout, waleyes, pike, crappie. Most tip tops are replacements on rods as guys like the larger eyes so they dont freexe as fasy. i also build ice rods and add the large eyes.

Thanks

Bruce

same species we fish for here in michigan, if you are fishing outside the large guides and tip tops are a plus. i build them both ways. most of these yankees down here sit in there heated coops and drink beer so big or small don,t matter lol. But ice fishing is a social thing. tight lines, john i like my heated coop
