I have been using a zip lock plastic bag with 35 new pennies in it to initially set my thread tension. When I change thread, it is easy to lock the new thread in the zip lock bag and set the tension. This seems to give consistant, repeatable results. Is there anything I am overlooking?
I have recently changed to using nylon washers between the bobbins and the springs, this gives a more uniform tension. I just picked up a 9/16 x 16 1/2 x .054 spring at a local hardware store to keep the tension on the thread when going around a guide using a Forhan locking wrap. Thanks, rhr Re: thread tension aid

Sounds like a very practical approach to me.
