I'm old school. Changing is hard. I build for myself about half dozen rods per year or so. Last year, I was on here raising heck about the quality of cork rings. After being out of rodmaking for about 12 years, I was shocked when I sanded down 6 handles I made! Been reading about Lamar Reel seats burl cork rings. I was just about to glue up 2 spinning rods for hybrid fishing when I read the post about the Laguna cork. Also, I purchased 50 traditional rings on @#$%& 2 months ago, but after looking at them tonight, there is no freakin' way I'm using that garbage, even if they are working rods for my clients.
Andy, Its , HARD TO CHANGE, but I've had it with regular cork rings man. I'm going to order your rings next week. Can't decide which style I like the best. Actually, the two-tone ones look cool. As far as regular cork goes, the party is over. Its time to change and its hard to do. But I'm going to embrace your rings and see how it goes. As far as the weight debate goes, those 6 rods I made have now been filled with epoxy so many times, (rings) there's additional weight! They turned out great but I am embarrased by the cork on them.
