PacBay "upgrade chuck" question

Last year I bought an upgrade chuck for my (old) PacBay rod wrapper. It seems to me that the threading is backwards. On the Pac Bay wrapper (or Amtak or other 'clones')
the rod rotates away from the person doing the wrapping (counter clockwise if viewed from the back side). The tension is applied by turning the jaw lock the opposite direction (clockwise) - or opposite a wood/metal lathe. The result is that if you do any turning, or long wraps, or leave it unattended the jaws loosen - and the rod can drop out. So, has anyone else noted this? If so what have you done to resolve this? I tighten mine with a 36 inch Stilson Pipe Wrench with a "Cheater Pipe" and have had no problems. Other than crushing a few blanks I have had no major problems with mine. I found the plastic one not strong enough to break things so trashed it long ago.
Ken - happy new year - no caps on purpose - like those government documents with "this page left blank intentionally" scattered through out! gonfishn Re: PacBay "upgrade chuck" question

I am especially fond of the FOIA (Freedom of Information) documents that arrive with whole pages intenionally scribbled through with black magic marker myself ... "Can you see my fingers now?" Re: PacBay "upgrade chuck" question

Ken after your advise a month or so back I bought one and noticed this exact thing while I was turning some cork handles on the blank. Just thought it was me, thing I did learn was to disconnect the power when installing the unit. Nearly gave myself an afro, lucky it is mandatory to have earth leakage here. I probably should let the guys know at PacBay to put instructions with them. (that will be my due diligence done). But overall it sure does make the wrapper preform like it should. Myles, yes - it certainly does make it work as it should. I think there must be a fairly simple fix for this problem. I'm hoping the fine folks at PacBay pick up on this post. If not I'll go round and knock them up Re: PacBay "upgrade chuck" question
